FRA

Food Rescue Association (FRA) conducts necessary communication and awareness studies for the prevention of food waste and loss in our country, identifies the needs of non-governmental organizations operating in various ways in the field of food waste prevention and supports them in different areas such as technology, human resources, financial support, process design and improvement which has been operating since 2017 with the aim of launching its programs and providing support to Food Banks for continuous food donation and increasing their competence and capacity.

FRA being in a support of Turkey’s 25 provinces, close to 100 CSOs and local government units to prevent food waste and food loss. Since 2017 it has played an active role in recovering more than 3000 tons of food and has been transported them to the 325.000 persons by avoiding food loss.

Devrim BARÇAK POTOK- Project Coordinator

Devrim Barçak Potok, Marine Biologist and civil society worker. Graduate of 1998 Istanbul University, Faculty of Fisheries, 2003 IU. Graduate of the Institute of Science, Marine Biology. She stepped into the civil society in 1996 with the Turkish Marine Research Foundation and in the following years she took charge in the management of civil society organizations such as Science Center Foundation, Adana Street Children’s Association, GOPSİAD, Anadolu Education and Culture Foundation and Association of Yuva. In 2002, she became the founder of the Association of Ecological Research. In her 23-years career life of civil society, she contributes Turkey’s efforts to become the solution of environmental and social issues, including education,to the development of many initiatives and projects. The process of development of the civil society sector in Turkey has witnessed a significant period of time and gave effort. She has publications about Turkey’s encouraging scientific research demonstrating the biological richness and biodiversity conservation and has two boks. Devrim is Ufuk’s wife and Onat’s mother.

Hazal SAYIN- Project Assistant

Hazal Sayın started her undergraduate studies in the field of politics and international relations, which she has been dreaming of since her childhood, at the Department of Political Science and International Relations, Faculty of Administrative and Economic Sciences, Yıldız Technical University. In 2011, she was one of the founder members of a youth non-governmental organization with the understanding of “leadership, experience, creating opportunities”. In 2015, she completed her internship at Sarıyer Municipality’s International Relations Department as a member of Project Writing. In 2011-2012, she took part in the Myself My World Project at AISEC Istanbul and worked as an instructor for young people. In 2013-2014, as the Istanbul Youth Delegate of the National Youth Parliament, she took part in the Istanbul leg of the, “Genç Dostu Aday, Genç Dostu Kent”. In the direction of her dreams, she started her MA in International Relations with Thesis at Kadir Has University in 2017, and she is expecting to graduate. During her graduate studies, she worked as a project research intern at the project called “Striving for Good Governance” at KHAS Center for International and European Studies (CIES) which aims to teach non-governmental organizations how to participate in decision-making processes and how good governance should be. She is working as a project assistant in this project of GKTD.

Berat İNCİ Project Advisor, Chairman of the Board of FRA

Berat İnci, engineer and entrepreneur. He was born in 1990 in Bursa. He graduated from Bursa Science High School and entered Istanbul Technical University, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering. He met entrepreneurship during his university years and since 2010 he has been involved in various projects on Social Entrepreneurship. Following his graduation, he worked as a Quality and Technology Engineer for 2.5 years in the top 5 steel companies of the world (2014-2017). In the companies he works for; He undertook various responsibilities such as Internal Audit, Complaint Management and Technical Sales Support. Meanwhile, in January 2017, he was offered the position of Founding Manager of Operations by the company. He resigned to this proposal that integrated his dreams into business life and said yes. Meanwhile, he founded the Food Rescue Association to improve the shortcomings he sees in civil society in Turkey and continues his working life  as Chairman of the Board of Food Rescue Association with the motto of his father’s citation “You should like first what you do”.

About the Program 

Civil Society Support Program

Civil Society Support Program is one of the programs carried out under the umbrella of Civil Society Sector.  It supports CSOs2 more effective participation in decision making, strengthening cooperation between the public sector and CSOs at national and local level , and improving their administrative, advocacy and communication skills.

Civil Society Support Program-II (CSSP-II), is a grant program to strengthen the capacities of CSOs. It is aimed to strengthen the capacities of management and strategic planning of CSOs, to increase the effectiveness and visibility of the activities carried out by them, and to develop their advocacy capabilities.
